Joe Torosian

Good Morning!

You know you’re getting old when ten years goes as fast, or faster, than it take to blow through ten bucks.

The key is estimating the worth of what you spent it on…

***

I’ve seen the name of the guy in the slot to become the next head football coach at San Marino…They’ve had men turn into great coaches there, but I don’t believe they’ve ever had one come in with this heavy of a resume.

Who is it? (soon)

***

Our best to the Muir football family.

***

“I am teaching,” says former Wilson HC Brian Zavala. “And yes, I aspire to coach again if given the opportunity.”

***

I’m pro NFL owner…

***

Maranatha is closer to an answer.

***

Note to Colts: Draft a quarterback.

***

Never been much of a Kevin Kolb guy…

***

Excited about the renewing of the long time basketball rivalry between Temple City and Bonita…I think if Rich Hollinger can get solid games out of Danny Jacks and Rico Harris they should be okay. Especially if Denny Ogden can pop in a few treys from beyond the arc.

Same for Arcadia, they should do well out at Highland if Donte Owens has a big night.

Good luck to Kiran Koneru…a four year varsity-man for the Apaches.

***

Chuck Tanner…sorry to see him go…that dude was alright.

***

I agree with Sunshine Saile Ramirez’s thoughts on Temple City quarterback Mikal Quintanilla.

***

The Lakers never have been able to contain Charlotte’s Nazr Mohammed…

***

No surprise, I really haven’t been following much basketball…but for all the talk I’m hearing about Blake Griffin and the Clipper-Nation I thought I would find the Clips in the playoff hunt.

Nope…Perhaps in the ninth spot? Nope…Tenth spot? Nope…

Where did I find the Clippers in the Western Conference? Thirteenth, eleven games behind Denver for the final playoff spot.

They are 20-35.

***

Best job in American sports has to be a third string quarterback in the NFL. Helmet, pads, uniform, and headset…ala Charlie Batch.

***

Kevin Durant or Greg Oden? Mmm…How did that one workout?

***

Checking out the highlights of the Penguins-Islanders from last week I was reminded of two things.

The movie Slapshot (of course), and Big George at Alfredo’s after midnight back in October.

***

I’ll think different if they take out an ad, but isn’t there something wrong with the “shake-weight”?

Yes, that’s what I’ve been telling Omelette.

***

Someone asked how much Little League did we use to cover back in the day? How much? We covered so many games at El Monte National down at Lambert Park that they used to give us the cheeseburger combo for free.

At Temple City National it was Debbie Rea’s tacos.

At El Monte American it was Bob Butler filling out an order sheet.

At South El Monte National it was the moms of the Dodgers providing homemade tamales.

At Temple City American? Nada. I got Butkus in seven years of coverage.

***

Last Add Little League: Does anybody remember the “Revert Rule”?

***

Oh, I’ve always been a Dwight Hardy fan…

***

You don’t think 2010 Butler star Gordon Hayward hurt himself by going into the NBA too early do you?

***

Cam Newton is making some dough, good for him. But will he be pressured to give his Heisman back when things come crashing down on Auburn?

***

Congrats to Mid Valley staffer Mike Martin who participated in the Tour De Palm Springs bike race on Saturday.

Martin, one of a thousand riders, finished in the top 20.

“It was a good 25 mile sprint,” said Martin.

***

Stay thirsty my friends…
