On The Couch: June 19, 2009

Good Morning!

I really don’t know who wants more attention these days.  John Scanlan or PETA?

For those who don’t know, PETA got me quite upset after last year’s running of the Kentucky Derby when Eight Belles broke down.

Now it seems the Animal Group is upset that President Barack Obama killed a fly.  Next they will be going after me for accidentally stepping on a ant.

At least for the most part, Scanlan knows what he is talking about.

Well the Justice System screwed up with Donte’ Stallworth but Commissioner Roger Goodell did the right thing by suspending the Cleveland wide reciever for a indefinite amount of time.

Before anyone says that he is paying the price already, figure that Stallworth did something much more heinous than Michael Vick did.   Albeit Vick killed dogs, but Stallworth was driving drunk and killed a human-being.

What I find disturbing is the family of the man killed received a monetary settlement that allowed him to just serve 30-days in jail.  If it was my family memeber no monetary agreement would be good enough if the person is facing 15-years for manslaughter.

This weekend is make or break weekend for the Los Angeles Angels.

They are riding a six-game winning streak and a sweep of their freeway rivals could give them the momentum headed into the Dog Days of Summer.

The most intresting match-up of the weekend could be brother vs brother on Saturday.  Jeff and Jered Weaver after starting their careers with the Angels will now be battling it out pitch-by-pitch.

Not that I am a Angels honk but Jered is pitching lights out this season with a 2.08 ERA in the American League.

GM spoke to NASCAR teams that have manufacture contracts this week.

The recent announcement of GM filing bankruptcy has NASCAR scrambling to see what the manufacturer would end up doing.

Last week, the manufacturer told both Kevin Harvick and Dale Earnhardt Jr, that their Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Series cars would lose manufacturer support.

Word is now that they had discussions with both Stewart-Haas and Hendrick Motorsports about how much spending will be done with their organizations.

The bottom line for lower tier teams is they will more than likely end up with no funding from GM.
