Joe Torosian

Good Morning!

Oh, I’ve always been a San Diego State fan.

…but then again Duke is Duke.

In regards to what is going on in Madison, Wisconsin right now I appreciate the fact that there are teachers out there protesting as is their right.

I believe there are some out there looking for a good time.

I believe there are some professional protesters coming in and doing their thing.

But I also believe some of those folks protesting are Green Bay fans who feel a bit jaded that they didn’t get their riot after the Packers won the Super Bowl…

I honestly thought Carmelo Anthony was going to end up in Golden State…

The only players not included in the Anthony deal to the Knicks was Mack Calvin, Bubbles Hawkins, Dean Meminger, and Monte Towe.

I would love to see the Anaheim Kings at The Pond.

Saile Ramirez is big on Alhambra…

Monrovia wins the Mid-Valley title in 2011, does it get moved into the Southeast come 2012?

Nostradamus roundtable moment in the office this weekend: Blair gets dropped from the Rio Hondo League, M-Town gets booted, …Glendale and Hoover join the RHL (temporarily)…

Pitchers! Catchers!…Yawn!

I didn’t know you could become famous with a name like Trevor Bayne…Not a racing fan but if a last name was up for grabs I’d take “Daytona”…Joe Daytona…That sounds alright… Name like that could eventually get me in a Nebraska uniform.

Love the NFL Combine.

Whatever you want to say about Auburn’s Cam Newton I would probably agree with…but say what you will as of now he’s planning on doing the full workout at the Combine…That’s a good move.

Mike Hobbie spent Friday interview current, former, and hopefuls for his San Marino staff.

I asked one potential assistant coming out of a meeting if anyone clued Hobbie in about Monrovia, its football team, and what the Cats have coming back…

“We didn’t talk about that.”

If its love, its love…but if it’s only lust couldn’t A-Rod do better than Cameron Diaz?

I don’t know but…There is something about Diaz…

A little leg work on my part might answer this but does anyone know the percentage of on campus versus off campus coaches leading varsity basketball programs for both boys and girls?

I think all local schools should cancel December tournaments and run three weeks of a combined clinic just teaching fundamentals…So maybe, come league and playoff time, we could see some good basketball.

Note to CIF: Marry the basketball divisional alignment to football. Give us Southeast and Mid-Valley Divisions in basketball…Cut down on the road trips, build local energy.

We always talk, debate, and surmise reasons for player transfers from one school to another in football, but basketball offers countless arguments for a transferring athlete.

Was asked what I thought of skydiving. I reissued the old line: “There is something wrong with jumping out of a perfectly good plane.”

(I think Twain said that).

“Well I bet if you ask the people who have done it, they’d probably say they liked it.”

To which I said; “Well ask the people who died while skydiving how they feel about it and then get back to me.”

You see I’ll jump into or out of a truck. I’ll jump through hoops during tax season. I’ll jump to attention when Citizen Keenan wants something. I will even jump to an occasional conclusion or two…but I will never jump out of a plane.

Not even for a column.

Stay thirsty my friends…
