Joe Torosian

Good Afternoon!

Props to the La Canada Spartans for winning CIF…But give the Devil his due, …our own Villathedevil did a great job negotiating traffic for these runs to the OC…

Andy I tip my hat to you…if indeed I were wearing one…

***

Show of hands…are you believing in the Miami Heat right now?

***

Is somebody, I guess the Chargers, really going to give Bob Sanders money to play football? Anything more than the league minimun is too much for a guy that breaks down more often than a ’73 Pinto…Trust me I know…

***

Out of the Del Rio:

Walter Scott has stepped down as the HC at Whittier… Got a lead on his replacement, but everything is still pending.

The Cardinals (0-10 in 2010) under Scott were 55-117-2 over 17 seasons.

***

Former Los Altos defensive coordinator Louie Zamora has joined the Bell Gardens staff. Zamora, entering his tenth year of coaching, is a graduate of El Rancho High School.

***

South Pasadena’s hiring of Martin Konrad looks good…It should be interesting watching the Tigers over the next few years.

***

Northview’s Roy Torres, will only be a junior next fall…but I’ve been told to watch.

***

Feeling Optimistic?

“We were actually pretty young this (past) year, we have 8 or 9 starters returning on offense and 7 or 8 on defense,” says Covina HC Darryl Thomas.

***

Word filtering out of San Gabriel is…Keep an eye on Joseph Mayorga at running back. “He’s small and shifty, just like I love them,” says SG HC Jude Oliva.

***

Note to Oliva: Good. You like Mayorga, I like Armando’s…

***

The Mid: Did Dominic Angelo play a role in getting Steve Garrison to come to Northview?

Northview HC Marcel Perez: Yes Coach Angelo had a huge impact on brining over Garrison,  and Angelo will be my defensive Coordinator in 2011.

***

La Canada football has been hit hard by graduation. What does HC Dan Yoder think?

“We have a bunch of talented young players that will have to step up to leadership roles since we graduated so many.”

***

He lost staffer Kevin Oberlander to Western Christian. He lost staffer Peter Karavedas to Maranatha…but why is Whittier Christian HC Sergio Gradilla smiling.

“My whole offensive line is back.”

***

Of course there is a conduct clause when you sign at a place like BYU…That is why it is called BYU not NYU…

***

It would be nice if “Battle: Los Angeles” really meant the Clippers-Lakers…or even the Angels-Dodgers…

***

Oh yeah, Russell Martin is a Yankee..I forgot…and I don’t really care, except I think Barry Lyons might be his replacement…

***

Stay thirsty my friends…
