Baldwin Park Blasts Glenn

By Corey Kwok

(Baldwin Park) – It was a terrific day for Baldwin Park and Alex Natividad as the first baseman sprinted from his position and dove in front of the dugout to catch a foul pop-up while also going on an offensive tear at the plate by batting 4 for 4 with 2 RBIs. The host Braves (3-2) committed no errors on defense and routed Glenn (3-3) 10-3 Tuesday in non-league play.

Baldwin Park scored five runs on three hits and two errors in the sixth to finish off Glenn. In the inning, an Eric Sanchez launch fell just short of a grand slam in deep right and instead became a long two run single on zero outs and bases loaded. Sanchez ended the day going 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and was amongst four Braves getting doubles along with Jarrett Sotolongo, Jordan Palacio, and Andrew Valles.

Valles cranked 3 for 4 at the plate and surged up his batting average to a team high .529 on the season.

With three innings in the books, BP had already belted ten hits, highlighted by their go-ahead third, where six of the first seven batters fired base hits for three runs to help push the Braves out of a 1-1 tie onto a 4-1 advantage. Ryan Dominguez (2 for 4) sprinted in for three runs and stole two bases (2-2) in the process.

The Eagles began the fifth on John Lemos’ driving single in the 5-6 hole and tightened Baldwin Park’s lead to two runs (5-3) when the ensuing batter Andy Aguirre crushed one high over right for a two run bomb. Subsequently, starting and eventual winning pitcher Eddie Gutierrez was replaced by Christian Torres who served three closing shutout innings, allowing just two hits.
