Fanview Lite: April 7, 2011

Joe Torosian

Good Morning!

In response to the comment posted yesterday…Yes, it is true, there is a school in our coverage area set to reap a huge windfall of players transferring in. I was told about it last week and asked to keep it under my hat.

Under my hat it stays, but based on the comment info is leaking…It could be a pretty big issue when and if all the details come to light.

Do you know what happened on November 14, 2008?

I love how the courts and the NFL Players Association say all they want to do is put the game back in the hands of the fans…Of course all the owners of the franchises in the NFL should do is bow, comply, and continue to assume all of the risk.

Correction: I guess there are two Frank Gallardo’s

“I was reading Fanview today and needed to let you know that, I never coached at South El Monte,” says Bell Gardens assistant coach Frank Gallardo. “In 2000 & 2001 I was the freshman head coach at Whittier High. In 2002 to 2009 I was the varsity DC at Whittier. I respect Coach Erick Escamilla and what he did at South El Monte. I coached against him in 6 games and went 3 wins – 3 losses. He did great things there.”

I didn’t know Muir’s Tairen Owens…a pretty good back…was getting Division I attention. Congrats to him on his verbal to Washington. Now he needs to pack on the Body Armour because the Mustangs will be breaking in a new quarterback in 2011.

***

Note to ESPN’s Mike Tirico: When Jake Plummer joined the Denver Broncos he was not a young quarterback. He had already been in the league six years before going to the Mile High City…Tirico was sharing about Washington Redskins Head Coach Mike Shanahan’s ability to bring young quarterbacks along in a discussion about the draft.

Not that big of deal, but with Mel Kiper Jr., Chris Mortensen, and Trent Dilfer sitting with him he should have known better…It’s not like he has to split his time between Bristol and an afternoon shift at Bank of America.

Can you believe former Dodgers Milton Bradley and Andruw Jones are still in the Majors and still drawing a paycheck?

The wild card at Bonita is Reggie Turner…

What happened on November 14, 2008? Arroyo lost to Rosemead at home 50-12. It was the Knights last loss in the Mission Valley League, they are 10-0 since and 17-5 over the last two seasons.

***

Monrovia has won 17 Rio Hondo League games in a row, its last loss coming in October of 2007 to…drum roll please…Blair (38-26) at home.

***

One more time…Azusa, under HC Joe Scherf, has won 19 consecutive Montview League games. In Scherf’s three seasons the Aztecs are a combined 31-5.

Stay thirsty my friends…
