Arcadia's pitching staff has been dominant

Wednesday May 4

Arcadia 6 Pasadena 0

(Arcadia) – Arcadia’s K. J. Edson allowed a single to Chris Rucker that bounced off of third base on his second pitch but was virtually untouchable thereafter. He did not give up a hit the rest of the way retiring 17 of the next 19 he faced. The only interruptions were a base runner that reached on an error in the fourth and a hit batter in the sixth to pick up the win.

Edson improved to 9-1 and his ERA dropped to 0.65 over 65 1/3 innings pitched. Erik Trask sealed the deal in the seventh by retiring the side in order.

Brendan Campbell continued his rampage at the plate and went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. George Papavasiliou (2-3, 2 RBI) also delivered two, both on singles to left-center, and Erik Trask was the other multiple-hitting Apache going 2 for 3 including an RBI double that buzzed to the left field corner.

Tyler Dominguez connected with Haram Park on six second to first base groundout plays including three in a row to help Edson retire the Pasadena side in the third.

Tuesday 5/3

Arcadia 10 Hoover 0

(Glendale) – Brendan Campbell pushed one in on a walk and drove another across with a double before belting a three run homer to cap a 2 for 2, 5 RBI day for the Apaches who coasted to a mercy shortened 10-0 blanking of Hoover.

Darren Kerfoot picked up his second win in three starts this season, throwing every inning but the fifth where Jeff Kim closed the door. Kerfoot, in three batting appearances, posted two RBIs over a double and sacrifice fly to go along with a walk. Haram Park picked up the rest of Arcadia’s offensive slack, going 1 for 1 at the plate with two RBIs, three runs, and three walks.

Muir 10 Glendale 8

(Pasadena) – Muir, entering its half of the fourth down 8-1, scored once and followed with eight more runs over the next two innings to shock Glendale and cap a dramatic comeback to win 10-8. It was the Mustangs’ first Pacific league baseball victory on the field since March 16, 2007 – a 9-5 win over Glendale.

A two run jack by Sam Hutchins and an RBI double from Jeffrey Davis helped buoy a five run Mustangs’ fifth inning before Kevon Seymour followed with a shot that cleared the fence for a three run bomb to put Muir ahead for good in the sixth.

Davis pulled his way out of a miserable five run deficit in the first and dealt it the rest of the way for his second complete game win of the season, allowing only three runs afterward before closing out with three shutout innings.
