(Diamond Bar) – After finishing at the bottom of the Sierra League going winless, the dramatic turnaround by Diamond Bar reached its grand conclusion with a 1-0 win over West Covina to get a share of the Hacienda League title.

Stephany La Rosa slammed an 0-2 pitch with an opposite-field homer to right in the bottom of the first for the Brahmas only run of the game.

The UCLA-bound La Rosa went one for two on the night.

Dani Wilson went seven innings scattering five hits in the shutout. Wilson struck out five Bulldogs in the victory.

West Covina did have its chances to take or tie the lead during the game.

With one out in the second, the Bulldogs strung together back-to-back hits by Summer Knight and Ashley Rodriguez. The rally would fizzle as Wilson got Jennifer Rodriguez to ground back to the circle and Alex Blanco to fly out to right.

Wilson dodged another bullet in the fifth with two outs. Taylor Castro tripled, but Dekota Monarrez grounded to Wilson for the final out of the inning stranding Castro at third.

Monarrez pitched brilliantly in the loss for the Bulldogs, allowing just three hits in the game. Monarrez kept West Covina in the ball game in the fourth inning after Liz Rubalcava tripled with no outs.

Monarrez struck out Wilson for the first out. Lizzy McCabe popped-up to short for the second out and Julie Walters grounded out to second to end the threat.

Wilson closed the game out retiring the final seven Bulldog batters to clinch Diamond Bar’s first title since 2004.
