Knights Clinch Crown in Final Game

Arroyo's Mark Roche waits for his pitch

(Rosemead) – Arroyo jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings and then held the rest of the way in a 4-1 win over Rosemead Friday. With the victory, the Knights clinched the Mission Valley League title.

Arroyo had lost its last two games leaving only ½ game between the Knights and Gabrielino coming in. Mike Amaya went the distance to pick up the victory and the Knights did enough offensively early to hold off the Panthers. Rafael Garcia also pitched a complete game for Rosemead.

Arroyo finished 11-4 in league while Rosemead took fifth place at 5-10.

If you give away free hot dogs they will come

The game was played before a packed house at Rosemead High with fans jammed in down the left and right field foul lines. Free hot dogs and sodas were distributed to the fans until they ran out on the last day of the regular season.
