Aguilar Returns to Rowland, Arroyo Hires Salmon

Dominic Salmon takes over Arroyo WR/Dbs.

“Long term it hurts us, short term we’re going to be okay,” says Arroyo HC Jim Singiser with the departure of Felipe Aguilar back to Rowland and bringing on of Dominic Salmon.

Aguilar, hired in December to a teaching position, was expected to coach wide receivers and defensive backs for the Knights in 2011. The former Los Altos HC and standout quarterback, who served on Craig Snyder’s staff at Rowland in 2010, returns back to the Raider fold with similar position and recognition of his previous teaching experience.

“I can’t say enough about Felipe,” says Singiser. “He’s one of the nicest guys I’ve ever been around in football. And yes in the long term it hurts us, we always want on campus teachers coaching in the program. In the short term we’re gonna be just fine.”

Stepping into the vacated coaching position is Dominic Salmon, himself a standout quarterback who guided the Knights to a 12-1 record in 2004 and a semifinal appearance.

“In Dominic we get a guy who grew up here, played here, knows the program, knows the staff,” says Singiser of one the school’s most storied players. After three years as the starting signal caller, Salmon went on to play football at Mt. Sac and is pursuing a career as a firefighter. “And he’s a quality guy as well. So we’re in good shape.”

There is no word yet on filling the on campus teaching position.
