Laski Takes over at Rancho Cucamonga

(Rancho Cucamonga) – Joe Laski, who was the Head Coach of the Varsity Baseball team at Gabrielino from 2004 to 2010, has been taken over the same position at Rancho Cucamonga High, according to athletic director Sean Sullivan.
Laski compiled an 87-87 record in seven seasons at Gabrielino, where he helped turn a floundering program into a force to be reckoned with in the Mission Valley League.

Laski closed out his tenure at Gabrielino with four consecutive playoff appearances (including the school’s first ever CIF playoff game victory in 2007) and MVL titles before resigning after the 2010 season.

Laski, who was an assistant to Jake Barendregt on Baldwin Park’s varsity squad this season, replaces longtime RCHS figure Chris Amaya. Amaya played at Rancho Cucamonga from 1995-1998 amassing numerous (active) team records and all-league honors as a pitcher.

He resigned at the conclusion of the 2011 campaign that ended 14-13 and a three way 6-9 tie in the brutal Baseline league. His last game was a 3-0 wild-card playoff loss to Yucaipa. Amaya spent five years as the head coach and leaves with a 68-68 mark.
