2011 Hacienda League Preview

West Covina features a devastating running back in Chris Solomon.

Projected order of finish:

  1. West Covina – Mike Maggiore
  2. Diamond Ranch – Roddy Layton
  3. Bonita  – Eric Podley
  4. Diamond Bar – Ryan Maine
  5. Walnut – Mike O’Shields
  6. Rowland – Craig Snyder
  7. Los Altos – Dale Ziola

As much as West Covina would like to downplay its status as the team to beat, there isn’t much not to like for the Bulldogs.

Running back Chris Solomon is a D-1 talent and can get some rest with Aaron Salgado getting some reps.

Justin Meaders causes havoc for most offensive lines when he lines up on the outside of the defensive line.

West Covina just has too many weapons.

Diamond Ranch coach Roddy Layton knows how to get the Panthers to play and this season will be no different come Hacienda League time.

Layton has “home run hitter” Andrew Fischer at the running back spot and a new leader under center in Isaiah Locke.

A year removed from a runner-up finish, Bonita begins the season with Tanner Diebold getting the nod at quarterback.

The Bearcats aerial assault will have Austin Venegas and Garrett Horine at wide receiver and the ground game will return Reggie Turner and Cameron Griffin.

Brandt Davis is the most lethal boot in ”The Mid” who can make a difference on the scoreboard.

After a successful “Passing League season”, Diamond Bar looks to improve off its fifth place finish last season.

After a rotating system at quarterback last season, Henry Omana will get the majority of the snaps. Omana will have a huge target in George Katrib to along with Jamal Clayton out of the backfield.

Walnut has a pair of defensive backs in Cody Lepp and Aaron Alvarez that will help keep the Mustangs in games. The linebacker corp is strong with Daniel Garcia and Robert Herrera, which will make Walnut tough to score against.

Although many players graduated last season for Rowland, it still will have three capable running backs in Terry Ford, Albert Jackson and Avery Johnson. Jorge Campos who saw some playing time last season will be the quarterback.

The Dale Ziola Era begins at Los Altos. The Conquerors are looking to rebound from a 0-10 season and will be asking Scott Tibbs and Shane Virnala to step up on offense.
