Devil Made Me Do It

Angels Ace Mike Witt

I’m back….Many are shaking their heads trying to figure out why.

Dear Pac-12…Texas, Oklahoma, and the rest of the Big 12 spurned your advances. Kind of like the nerdy kid asking the “hot” chick to prom.

My advice, ask Boise State, Fresno State, Hawaii, and Nevada-Reno to come on over the conference to make it a cozy 16 teams. They all make sense and with the Broncos being a part of the move, it will make both parties happy. Also, these are the girls next door.

Don’t really care if the “yawn” fest known as the NBA ends its lockout or not. As my wife stated the other day logically, “both sides are arguing over a billion dollars and in the process losing millions.” Of course for the NBAPA and owners it is too logical.

On the last day of the MLB season, baseball won me over. Now it’s back to an apathetic feeling for the game. At one time I couldn’t get enough of baseball. Faking to be sick on Opening Day to either go to the ballpark with my dad or listen to radio.

Somewhere in my nick-knacks I still have Fernando Valenzuela’s first game scorecard. I listened to it on the radio at my grandma’s home. Also have a scorecard from the Mexico City Reds game against the Leones de Yucatan.

In that game Valenzuela pitched all five innings getting the win in the front end of a doubleheader.

Most memorable radio moment was the Angels Mike Witt throwing a perfect game against the Texas Rangers on the last day of the 1984 season.

Midnight Maddness begins at 7pm at some college campuses on October 14. I can’t wait. Love NCAA basketball especially during March and April.

The quietest free-agent move of the new football and basketball season….Gus Johnson heading over to the FOX networks in May 2011. Who doesn’t love Johnson’s over the top excitement on football or basketball games.
