"Football is a tough game and often a cruel one..." --- John Facenda

Good Morning!

Good bye Frank McCourt…I’m gonna miss you like a cold toilet seat.

Peter O’Malley interested in owning the Dodgers again? That’s all you gotta say…

(I believe I saw Johnny BlueState doing cartwheels down Las Tunas Blvd.)

I’m gonna take a guess that El Monte-South El Monte at The Swamp on Friday will be very, very intense.

Tough to pick a winner…Lions are still unbeaten and in the hunt for their first league title since 1979. The Eagles can still get a share of the title with a win and some help. Both teams can be explosive, EMHS can lock up a playoff birth with a win, SEM can get another step closer…My prediction is: Lots of points…

Still, who cares about fantasy football when your reality team beats the New Orleans Saints.

Because of Pasadena’s penchant for playing to the level of its opponent look for a good game against Arcadia…and more touchdowns than you’ll see between Alabama and LSU this weekend…

Football hurts…Football costs…Talking to a local this week, years after his last game, the playoff loss is in perspective. The trick knee, however, hasn’t bounced back. We forget, even at the prep level, what football can do to a body.

“He’s as good as gone,” says a Daily Trojan staffer about Matt Barkley’s future at USC beyond 2011.

It’s so dark? Has daylight savings been cancelled?

Monrovia’s DeShawn Ramirez has touched the ball 66 times in 2011. This includes all of his touches from pass attempts, rushes, receptions, interceptions, punt returns, kick returns, and fumble recoveries: 66 touches, accounting for 11 touchdowns.

Does anyone still want to write off M-Town?

Based on previous results, couldn’t Arroyo do better for itself by finishing Mission Valley League play with a 4-1 record and a second place finish…Than it could by winning the MVL and possibly getting a Maranatha or Pomona?

No disrespect but I’ll take that first round match with South Pasadena thank you…

I will run the “Best Ever in MVL” poll the when the regular season concludes. I’ve taken my position, made it clear, so if you want to get a horse in this race make a good argument. If you’re voting on school lines it wouldn’t be good to have two players from the same school in the poll.

Meaning Tra Sumler and Wolfe Payne Barber could split the Rosemead vote…So do something unique in this debate, make your point. Argue for your guy instead of tearing down the other.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Last Add Fantasy Football: How come I never draft a guy like Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson?

Did you know there is only one high school in America named “Diamond Bar”?…And did you know that Diamond Bar has a linebacker named Menandro Gelua who has been on 94 tackles and has recorded 6 sacks?

(Transcript from a recent RamRodder meeting at Temple City High School.)

Booster: “Let’s face it Coach, Monrovia has beaten us every year since 2006 and they’re going to beat us again.”

Coach Mike McFarland: “That’s just the attitude we don’t need. Sure, Monrovia has beaten us four years in a row. Sure, they’re terrific athletes. They have the best equipment available. But it doesn’t matter.

“Do you know that every M-Town competitor has an electrocardiogram…blood and urine tests every 48 hours to see if there’s any change in his physical condition? Do you know that they use the most sophisticated training methods…from the Soviet Union, East and West Germany…and the newest Olympic power, Trinidad-Tobago? But it doesn’t matter.

It just doesn’t matter!

“I tell you, it just doesn’t matter! And even if we win, if we win, HAH! Even if we win! Even if we play so far above our heads that our noses bleed for a week to ten days; even if God in Heaven above comes down and points his hand at our side of the field; even if every man woman and child held hands together and prayed for us to win, it just wouldn’t matter because all the really good looking girls would still go out with the guys from Monrovia because they’ve got all the money! It just doesn’t matter if we win or we lose. IT JUST DOESN’T MATTER!”

Okay…I’m gonna stick to my summer prediction: If it rains on Friday, Temple City “pulls something” and gets the upset.

The Dude abides…
