(Pasadena)-Muir scored early, scored late, and made it look easy on the way to a dominating 48-0 CIF Quarterfinal victory over visiting Diamond Ranch Friday night at Horrel Field.

Kevon Seymour electrified the crowed with two big plays on special teams and defense.

Seymour first picked off a Diamond Ranch pass and darted down the sideline for a 90- yard touchdown return, making it 16-0 with 39 seconds in the second. After halftime, Seymour returned a punt 65-yards to the house and it was 23-0, deflating any chances of a comeback for DR.

Muir started off hot and scored on the opening play of the game.

Joshua Muema-washington threw a long bomb to Tarien Owens for the early touchdown and the Mustangs led early 7-0 after 20 seconds of play. Owens also scored on a 62-yard run to make it 42-0 at the end of the third.

The Panthers accounted for three turnovers, two interceptions and a fumble. DR was on the verge of scoring before Seymour picked off the pass and took it 90-yards the other way.

Derrick Holmes and Travonta Herod also chipped in on the scoring action. Holmes scored on a 60-yard run to cap off the scoring for Muir at 48-0 with just over a minute remaining and Herod scored late in the third to push the lead to 30-0.

Muir (8-4, 4-3) will now face La Serna, a 42-38 winner over Los Altos, in the semifinals as Diamond Ranch (6-6, 4-2) closes the book on its 2011 campaign.
