M-Town Versus C-Town

…That was the last time Monrovia and Covina met on the football field. The Wildcats beat the Colts 32-6, at Covina District Field, thanks to fullback Tom Harding’s three touchdowns, including a 54-yard scoring run. Jerry Baron added C-Town’s only points with a 30-yard touchdown catch.
Under HC Mike Giddings M-Town went 9-0 in the regular season, winning the Pacific League crown, and were 11-0 before they fell to San Diego, 53-0, in the CIF final at Balboa Stadium.
The Colts ended the year 4-4-1, and 2-2-1 in an early incarnation of the Montview League.
