Game Night Southeast Division: Muir (8-4) at La Serna (8-4)

La Serna looks to continue its Cinderella run.

Game Time: 7pm

Where: California High School

HOW THEY GOT THERE: Muir: def. Santa Fe 39-7, def. Diamond Ranch 48-0

La Serna: def. Mayfair 47-34, def. Los Altos 42-38

When Muir has the ball: Joshua Washington has become the leader that the Mustangs so desperately were looking for at quarterback. Tairen Owens gets out wide at times when Darrick Holmes or Travonta Herod are in the backfield. Kevon Seymour has come up big at receiver the last three games.

When La Serna has the ball: The Lancers are scary good, especially when you realize this was a rebuilding season for Margarito Beltran’s squad. Frankie Palmer leads a young team and is getting better with every game. OJ Medina will be able to run against the Mustangs with the La Serna running game.

Player to Watch: Craig Jones (La Serna Linebacker) – Jones leads a strong linebacker corp and will be the guy in the middle to stop the running game of Muir. Also, he will need to get pressure on Washington in passing situations.

Matchup to Watch: Tairen Owens (Muir Running Back) vs OJ Medina (La Serna Running Back) – They both catch and run out of the backfield which gives teams tough matchup problems. Owens will usually lineup in the slot, while Medina gets his catches from out of his running back position.

MUIR 28-17
