9.) On this date in 1967 St. Francis beat Bishop Amat 54-53, thanks to a 20-point performance from guard Mike Newlin. Newlin went on to star at the University of Utah and average 14.9 points per game in 11 NBA seasons with the Houston Rockets, New Jersey Nets, and New York Knicks.
