Good Morning!

T-minus-31 until “The Mid Valley Classic”

Game Two: September 24, 1970 at Temple City

The two schools met for the first time in 14 years, and it wasn’t close. Larry Mushinskie scored twice as the Rams defeated Arroyo 27-0. TC defenders Joe Westphal and Jim Baumgarten lived in the Knights backfield and made life miserable for quarterback Chuck Hiroto. The victory, which also featured scores by fullback Bob Vargo and quarterback Ken Callas, was the sixth of eventually 46 for the Rams program.

I know I already talked about it a little on Facebook but being at Dairy Queen last night with the family, with a rock station, a real deejay playing over the DQ’s loudspeakers in the parking lot and watching an electrical storm blowing up the sky way to our south was surreal.

Add the warm air and it became nearly out of body…Like a Ray Bradbury novel which can be very nostalgic…Honestly in the woods around us I thought anybody from Robert E. Lee to Johnny Unitas could have walked out…

Maybe it was just the live deejay, not a pre-recorded screech of some wise-butt most of us would love to deck, that did it for me. He talked about what was going on locally, how to get tickets or a rock & roll show, took requests…I’ll date myself, it was like the old KHJ…(Now I’m going Bradbury like)…when I was young and caught the tale end of the Boss Radio era…

I was gone about nine hours yesterday walking the battlefield, climbing observation towers, crawling under bridges, and taking pictures no one else is going to enjoy…oh, and my feet are currently in the Critical Care Unit at Gettysburg Community Hospital…

So after nine hours I obliged the family and ate Italian last night…Although I did come close to ordering the lobster ravioli, I settled for traditional salad and pizza…

The east coast thing is doable (as far as relocating and living here) if I can find a way to stay on a California work schedule.

Out here I get 27-hour days. I get up at seven in the morning…stretch, yawn…look at the clock and realize its only four in the morning back home and go back to bed…That works…I’m never late to anything, I have all the time I want…its just like being on vacation…

Yeah, I’m down with the 27-hour day…

Stay thirsty my friends…
