Nelson Commits to Montana

J.R. Nelson's move to running back in 2011 paid off.

Wilson’s JR Nelson has committed to the University of Montana and will officially sign in February.

Nelson gained 1,704 yards this past fall on 211 carries and scored 13 touchdowns.

This came after Nelson moved from wide receiver, where he caught 38 passes in 2010 for six touchdowns, to running back.

In four years at Wilson, Nelson was under three different head coaches.

“Having three head coaches in four years, going 6-34 over that time, and changing my senior year to running back instead of wide receiver made me wonder about my opportunities,” Nelson told Scout.com. “But it has worked out well.”
