“The Across America Edition”

Good Morning!

T-minus-29 until “The Mid Valley Classic”

Game Four: September 27, 1974 at Arroyo

The fourth meeting between the schools resulted in another shutout and a third straight Temple City victory. In the 20-0 win the Rams defense overcame five turnovers thanks to the inspired play of Dave Douglas, Bob DeAngelis, Jim Wetton, Eric Voge, and Paul Beakes.

Knights quarterback Jon Van Bogart was knocked from the game early as the offense sputtered for only 104-yards, (RB Bob Beltran 21-54yds).

TC was led by fullback Mark Wright’s two touchdowns, Rick Todd added another. Russ Ornelas rushed for 70-yards on 12-carries.

Didn’t see any prep football going on until we got to New Jersey outside of Newark…but below the Mason-Dixon Line…It’s all about the gridiron…

While I generally live in the solid belief the rest of the world owes America something and not the other way around, I do agree and have seen the ugly American in play at times in a number of trips to Mexicali…It’s not pretty…

However, neither is the balding, hairy backed, Euro swimming in my hotel pool with his gut hanging over his extra-small speedos…YAMAHAMA!…with no sense of modesty…Here’s a resolution the United Nations should be working on…Lay off global warming for a while, and find an agreement on dudes of all nations being banned from speedos…

Zable Stadium on the campus of William & Mary, built in red brick with archways and seating 12,500 is so spectacular I have become a major fan of the Tribe…We should have stadiums like this in SoCal…

As I’ve shared on Facebook, I love the Old Dominion…

Especially the Pierce Pitt Barbeque which is out in the middle of nowhere…

Heading to North Carolina today where they are big on the Tar Heels and custards…custard sundaes, custard pies, custard shakes…

Saw people swimming in the James River yesterday, and a small thought came to me. It wasn’t large, life changing, or profound but still…It’s called; WATER MOCCASIN!

No matter the cultural divide “In ‘N Out Burger” is the universal language…

Stay thirsty my friends…
