CV Beats Arcadia in Regular Season Finale

(Arcadia)- End of the season, large boisterous fan support on both sides of the gym, everything you expect for a rivalry game. It was true to the cliche, records were thrown out, and Crescenta Valley (22-5, 11-3) held on to defeat Arcadia (11-15, 4-10) 75-64 on Thursday night.

CV left the chute quickly as Cole Currie dropped in three 3’s. The Falcons led at the end of the first quarter, 20-12 and continued their hot shooting from the 3-point line (7-15 46% in the 1st half) as Tade Keshishyan added three bombs of his own. CV led at the break 36-25.

Arcadia dominated the third quarter. As the Apaches cut the lead to six, Robert Haines had a monster offensive rebound and putback to energize the home crowd. At the end of the third quarter it was 48-42 in favor of the visitors.

Arcadia continued to be the aggressor as the fourth quarter started.

Taylor Lagace had his own offensive board and putback and later was fouled on a drive to the basket. With a chance to tie the game, with the score 50-48, Lagace made the first and missed the second and the Falcons regrouped and slowly built back the lead.

Dylan Kilgour hit a trey with less than two minutes to go putting CV up 64-57, and they finished it off from the foul line.

Crescenta Valley was 17-21 (81%) from the free throw line in the fourth and 11-23 (48%) from the 3-point line for the game. Currie, Davis Dragovich and Keshishyan had 24, 21 and 16 for CV. Lagace racked 22 to lead Arcadia.

NOTE: The end of the girl’s game was exciting as well. Crescenta Vally was down 40-28 in the fourth when its coach called timeout and raked them over the coals. From there to the end of the game they outscored Arcadia 14-1, winning 42-41.
