“The Across America Edition”
Good Morning!
T-minus-23 until “The Mid Valley Classic”
Game Nine: September 9, 1988 at Temple City
Down late in the fourth, the Rams push 74-yards and reach the Knights six before TC’s Terry Fesler fumbles with 38-seconds remaining. Arroyo’s Raymond Pena recovers to secure the 13-6 win. Willie Reyna and Darren MacLellan both score for D.J. MacKinnon’s squad. Rams quarterback Kenny Mushinskie scores in the third on one-yard dive to close the gap to 7-6.
Brett Favre to Minnesota? Couldn’t have happened to a better team…Isn’t there a spell in the Harry Potter books, or movies, that turns something really scary into something really funny by pointing a wand and saying; “Ridiculous!”
That’s Favre…
If Jay Cutler was at best inconsistent last night in his Bears debut, it is still a whole lot better than the dreadful Kyle Orton was for Denver in his first start.
Not only was it nice to see the Dodgers beat the Cardinals last night for a change, it is even better news to learn John Smoltz is soon to be St. Louis’s fifth starter.
I’ve noticed a lot of middle aged white women seem to have pierced right nostrils in Virginia and North Carolina…I’m not a fan of it, but as long as they call me “Sweetie” when they serve me my unsweetened iced tea I can live with it.
Digging Nashville…Western North Carolina looks a lot like eastern Tennessee…Fell off the wagon yesterday…went to Chili’s…
Obligatory John Scanlan Question of the Day: Ivan Rodriguez, on his way back to the Rangers, has been in the bigs since he was 19. Hall of Famer? Is he a first ballot Hall of Famer?
By the time this trip is over we will have spent over 200-bucks on room tax…(That’s the extra city-county-state stuff they stick into your Hampton Inn bill)…200 bones! That’s four trips to the Cracker Barrel…Five trips to the Golden Corral…and, depending on the place and time, five tanks of gas…I’m trying to stimulate the economy but…
The prep football season is only 15 days away…I should be back from vacation by then…Unless the Minnesota Valley News wants to make me an offer…
I’ve seen Run Forrest, I’ve seen Stop Forrest, but I never did see Wake Forest on this trip…
Stay thirsty my friends…
