Saints Rout Red Devils

(Pomona) – Josh Avila needed just 76 pitches and allowed one run (unearned), two hits, and four strikeouts for San Dimas, who beat Pomona 7-1 Monday to stay in the thick of the Valle Vista race, which is separated by one game from first place to fourth.

Ricky Ramirez went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs while Jake Payton hammered 2 of 3 as well for an RBI. Payton also sizzled on the base paths where he was 3 for 3 on stolen bases. Peter Lambert went 2 for 4, including an RBI drag bunt that went unplayed to help score Payton .

The Saints however ran into a speed bump executing with runners in scoring position and stranded one on third for five consecutive innings.

Pomona scored its lone run off of Avila in the fourth when Freddy Rosales capitalized on a home plate passed ball.
