Joe T.

Kick it!

Sometimes I think Swen Nater was more consistent at center for the Lakers than Andrew Bynum.

Apparently La Puente is not happy with me either…And I got nothing but love for La Mirada.

When I see a wild animal come into a neighborhood and threaten the well being of over a 100 people I shoot the beast…That’s my policy.

Alhambra baseball coach Steve Gewecke has got a little Manu Ginobili thing going on, on the basketball court. Left hander with a soft touch…

Would sooner talk horse racing with Villathedevil than watch the Pro Bowl…It’s not the location of the game…It’s the game itself.

I guess they’re loving Bobby Valentine now in Boston…

Feel like I haven’t seen a USC football game in months…

Quick Note to La Mirada Guy: What is your opinion on Bellflower? Ascending?

Only one thought went through my head Sunday afternoon…Same old Kings…Same old sorry butt Kings…I’m off that bandwagon for at least a few hours.

Last Note Gewecke: Doesn’t every left hander have a soft touch?

Rules are rules…I hear that…And ninety percent of the time I agree with that…But someone dropped dime on Mark Keppel’s baseball team this week. No problem with their season being forfeited if they had an ineligible player…Brutal, but it’s the rules.

My question would be does CIF ever ask the party dropping dime how long they have had the information? See I get the feeling someone gets a juicy nugget and then saves it for the most opportune time. Somebody had information on Muir’s basketball team and waited until it would do the most damage before coming forward. Someone had the information on Keppel’s baseball team before making the call.

My argument would be that if you get information, damaging information, then you should be required to share it immediately. I know it would be impossible for CIF to verify but knowing a program had something dubious going on, and not saying anything, doesn’t it make all parties involved, including the whistle blower, guilty?

I never said South Pas would beat Monrovia…I just said the Tigers would be a team to watch in 2012.

Did anyone let Pete Carroll know newly acquired tight end Kellen Winslow has a whole lot of mileage on him?

After experiencing the smooth stylings and light hitting of James Loney the last few years it sure would have been nice to have had Paul Konerko playing first base the last 13 or 14 seasons for the Dodgers.

People acting like animals in the parking lot after a Dodgers game…Mmm…Nope, I’m sure alcohol has nothing to do with it.

The Dude abides…

    @New Ram
That was a nice assessment of our team. Last year’s team was full of underclassmen and little varsity experience. And the beginning of year it showed, However they turned it on mid-year and played lights out. With our new Defensive Coordinator, and returning players, we at LM are very excited. If you come to a game this year , i’ll buy the hamburgers and coke :)

Yes I get it. Regardless, of who did the infraction/violation, and when they did it. It is still a problem C.I.F. should address. Like stating who was the whistle blower and what was the evidence, plus when and where they found out about such a violation. If the violation occurred or if it did occurred at all. And was reported violation done untimely, then the violation still occurred, but the team who knew about it earlier should be held accountable for not reporting it earlier. Like I said sometimes it may not be a violation or something else. We are not “Pre-cogs”.

    @ Hey Dude,
I think you missed Joes point, If you learn of a team with an ineligible player and decide to report on them, at least have the decency to report them when you learn of their mistake/mischevious deed, don’t wait till after they beat you
    in the league championship game.

    La Mirada Guy

I attended 4 LM games last year, strictly because I work with an LM dad of a D lineman from last year.
La Mirada’s game prep and overall coaching is something to be proud of. LM kids are prospering in the fundamentals being taught and seeing it work on the field when executed. The old adage that a solid run game will bring your passing game to life – is what La Mirada does, and it is impressive in the simplicity and power of it. Of course, without 5 tough, focused kids up front – none of it works.
The Arcadia/LM game was the best prep football game I have seen in a couple years…though a blistering defeat for an Arcadia program, which was tough to see at the end. I also caught the Mayfair game on that rainy Friday night. Good luck this upcoming season

Yes we are on the same page. I don’t know how long they had the info, but in those days C.I.F. had a bit of a back bone. As always, admit you made a mistake, stand up like a man, and take what comes to you. Just the nature of being in football gives you that fighter instinct for survival. We all must still learn to be humble… Monrovia dropped all of those sophomores to the B team so they could win the MVL championship at the time. So you see, it effects others not just the team in question. 72-74 Monrovia teams may have been the very best in the SGV with all those D-1 and eventually Pros, who came out of that one group. Pasadena’s 70-71 team were monsters too. I am sure you remember a little combo known as Haden and Mackay ,,,lol Thank JT

    Hey Dude
Let me clarify the “stealing”. I do agree that there are those A.H’s. out there who would hold on to information. The coaches job at most districts is not to check the validity of the athletes. They turn in a roster and it is out of their hands. Many times the admin comes back and says don’t play that boy/girl because, we, the admin do knot know he is eligible. I was not accusing you, just making a point that why does it matter when it happens or who is withholding information, or who suspects some did it. Should they stop it before it happens? Looks like the film “Minority Report”. What I read from you was that all the above including the “whistle blower are guilty”. If, I wish, I could of, its all about integrity. So Why does it matter when, A violation is a violation. I come from the day when that really great Monrovia team from 1972 with Dale Bunn and Obie Graves, sophomores, great for 3 years and their 2 CIF final appearances when they only took 1 team from from that league. Do you remember what happened? They forfeited all their games because they had summer workouts in 72′ Now it it is acceptable except during dead period. So, I apologize and just want you to it though a different light. I am glad I got your attention. By the way, it is Pepperoni!

From Joe T.: I think we’re on the same page here…but you do understand my point correct? In 1972 how long do you think Rosemead’s Ellis and El Monte’s Barton had that information before coming out with it? What most people don’t know or remember is that the fight wasn’t settled until it raced to and reached the Supreme Court.
The funny part of that story is Monrovia’s Paton getting in trouble for not shaking Ellis’ hand the next season…and getting suspended for it. What was he supposed to do?

Your right Joe, someone will “drop dime” at any given opportunity. I don’t know how many games this kid played for Keppel or where he came from. We can blame the kids, parents, district, the opposing team, “I blame the coaches”-now this is my opinion. If you COACH are asking “a kid” to give you 15+ hours weekly, then send one of your coaches to sit down in the Admin office and MAKE SURE all your T’s are crossed and I’s are dotted. Alhambra district is very shady when it comes to transfers, check outs and just sports in general. Much bad blood between coaches and the higher up people that sit in the office on Mission rd. This district has stole many moments from kids that they will never get back, now Keppel is not the only school that has suffered but Alhambra. Too much politics and backbiting in this district, who knows if this was not an inside job. Do the math, Alhambra baseball boys are not allowed to play football-what does this have to do with the district? CONTROL !!!!!!! The district controls everything…

Bellflower is a up and coming team. They have very good skill players, except at QB(last year) They are dangerous, and no one should take them lightly. La Mirada, Bellflower, Mayfair and Norwalk will battle it out this year for the Suburban. La Mirada should come out on top, as we are stacked this year.

Really? As you know administrative practices at Keppel are lets say not done in the most urgent sense of the word. The Admins job is to check out all transfer before any of the athletes play in a Varsity game at any sport. So, as may be the case someone probably told the admin to check the young man out and they dropped the ball. They may have been give an extra chance or they thought that no one would know. Whatever the case, cheating is cheating, stealing is stealing, and forgetting to check players out is unacceptable; period. I am not saying that it is exactly the same in all cases but, those administrators who did not do their job stole from their kids, and the kids in the first round of the playoffs because another team should have had the chance to compete and they will never get that back. What I hear from you DUDE is it is OK to Steal if you do not get caught. Honesty and integrity are not on the DUDES list of priorities. If you steal and don’t get caught, you are still a thief! If you are caught later you still pay the price. Really you are the DUDE, who is really a DUD. I hope I am not the one you back into because I know you won’t leave a note!
Sorry but I am really disappointed in you DUDE!

From Joe T.: Wake up and smell the pizza! Did I say it was okay? NO. I said it was wrong for somebody to have information and then hold onto it until they are given the best chance to screw someone over. And you know that happens, people bank a tidbit and then play it later.

Get Chuck Neville in the game should Counts foul out.

Bynum was a big contributor to the Lakes early departure. Given the gift of size and athleticism, he just did not step and compete with the fierceness required. A heart transplant from Metta is all he needs to become a Hall of Fame inductee.

Sessions showed glimpes of real talent but was tentative down the stretch I thought. His quickness did not bring point guard mismatches like I think Kupchak had expected to see. His turnovers came at crucial game junctures.

They lost a very winnable series. In all likelihood, San Antonio would have Genoblied them out anyway.
