1. Tampa Bay Rays’ pitcher Joel Peralta was ejected from the game in the eighth inning Tuesday night against the Nationals for having a foreign substance (pine tar) on his glove.

2. The Washington Wizards acquired Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza from the New Orleans Hornets for Rashard Lewis and the number 46 pick in next week’s draft.

3. Ex Dodger Jonathan Broxton has 18 saves for the Kansas City Royals.

4. The Yankees and Braves combine for nine home runs in the Braves 10-5 win at Yankee Stadium.

5. Arcadia’s Erik Trask will be pitching for Chapman University next year.

6. BCS Commissioners and Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick endorse a seeded four team playoff model for college football that would begin in the 2014 season. It is pending approval.
