San Juan Hills 38, Artesia 13

Two third-quarter fumbles by the Pioneers (1-2, 0-0) allowed the Stallions (3-0, 0-0) to break open the game as they remained undefeated Friday night at Artesia High.

After leading at halftime 21-13, a fumble recovery by Kyle Moses set up Stallions quarterback Jacob Gibson to complete a 10-yard pass to Curren Lapes with less than seven minutes left in the quarter. Then, Kyle Mucerino recovered a fumble on the Pioneer 35-yard line. ON the ensuing possession Gibson hit Mucerino for the score.

The “Cameron Ave. Conflict” was a relief to the Bulldogs (1-2, 0-0) who ended a surprising two-loss slide as they knocked off the Huskies (2-1, 0-0) Friday night at Covina District Field.

The fourth quarter proved to be the turning point as Aaron Salgado broke a 7-7 tie with two touchdowns in the final frame. Salgado broke the tie with 7:22 left in the game as he broke away for a 57-yard touchdown. Salgado scored later in the quarter on a 16-yard run.
