Not a glorious start for the Old School, but Monrovia goes to the Mead to decide the Fate of the World. Covina continues its tour of the MVL by traveling to El Monte this week. Apaches get a week off. A dark horse? Would it be fair to refer to TC as a ‘dark horse’ team? We think they are going to be very good. Haven’t we been advocating an Arroyo-M-Town game for years? “The Mid Valley Sports Show” is live every Tuesday (7:P.M.) and Friday night (10:30 P.M.) at www.midvalleysports.com.

.) Monrovia: While you never like to see one team blow out another like the ‘Cats did Duarte, M-Town can’t afford to take its foot off the accelerator. Looking for Mead payback this week.

.) Arroyo: Shouldn’t need a Fatima like miracle against Northview this week. Mike “Let’s Rock!” Vasquez looked amazing in the opener.

.) Rosemead: They have a runner in Joey Diaz, linemen to block, a developing passer, Matt Koffler, Luis Diaz,…all they need now is a kicker with a thunder foot. Is there another Yepez brother out there?

.) San Gabriel: Mats take care of South Pas, Isaac Valdez area’s best quarterback. Nice bounce back. Don’t count them out.

.) Temple City: We knew TC had talent, just thought it would take longer for it to show up. Even with a loss, new era off to great start. Justin Smith solid in first game at QB.

.) Alhambra: In holding pattern after game with La Canada was cancelled. Was loss to Roosevelt caused by fluke, fires, or fraud? Too talented to stay here.

.) El Monte: Lost a season opener for first time since 2002. (LP is looking like a very good team) Mistakes killed them against Warriors.

.) Arcadia: All the Pacific is in chaos that’s the best news. Apaches have week off to get healthy.

.) Gabrielino: Don’t throw them under the bus yet. Eagles should get on track against Keppel.

.) Mt. View: It’s starting to look like a long season at the View.

.) Duarte: This is all on the administration. Give praise to those players coming out and knocking heads.

.) South El Monte: The road began last week, its just a really really steep road.
