Panthers Slip by Conquerors

(Hacienda Heights)- Diamond Ranch quarterback Xavier Beltran threw for three touchdowns in the Panthers 28-21 win over the Conquerors Friday night at Los Altos.

Conquerors came out strong on the first play of the game Marcos Estuardo ran 43-yards into Panthers territory. D-Ranch’s defense stood strong and held Los Altos to a field goal attempt which they blocked.

Diamond Ranch’s offense didn’t waste any time. On its first play Beltran hit a wide open Marcos Briscoe for a 90-yard trip to paydirt to make it 7-0 midway through the first quarter.

Briscoe found the end zone again early in the second quarter with a 6-yard touchdown catch. It looked like the Panthers were about to break it open when Allen Salguero slid through the Los Altos defense to make it 21-0 early in the third.

The Conquerors finally got on the board when Jose Padilla blocked a Panthers punt and took it to the house from 15-yards out to make it 21-7 late in the second quarter.

Diamond Ranch took the 21-point lead back when William Bryan ran the ball six straight times to start the second half and capped it off with a three yard touchdown run to make it 28-7.

Los Altos scored again with time expiring in the third quarter when Christian Hacegaba hit Gabriel Aceves from 12-yards out cutting into the lead 28-14.

In the fourth Hacegaba stayed on track and took the Conquerors down field and it was finished off with a 6-yard touchdown scamper from Estuardo making it 28-21.

Los Altos was able to stop D-Ranch and get the ball back for one last possession. Hacegaba drove them down the field converted two fourth down plays but wasn’t able to convert the third fourth down on the drive as time expired.

Panthers defense got 5-sacks and Julian DeGuchy picked off a pass. Beltran finished 3 of 6 for 139-yards and three touchdowns. Bryan had 111-yards on the ground, Briscoe had two catches for 95-yards and his two touchdowns.

Conquerors had 45-yards of penalties in the first half. Hacegaba finished 16 of 30 for 195-yards with a touchdown and interception. Estuardo had 64-yards on the ground and Aceves caught five passes for 83-yards.

Los Altos falls to 4-4 and stay home to host Bonita. Diamond Ranch moves to 5-2 and goes home to face Rowland.
