Sierra Canyon is Blazing a Trail

Xavier Menefield has a walk in the park against Marshall

(Pasadena) – Sierra Canyon raced out to a 42-0 halftime lead and went on to rout Marshall 51-0 Thursday night in Alpha League action. The game was played with a running clock the entire second half.

Xavier Menifield scored three touchdowns, all in the first half, including runs of 32 and 47 yards. The Trailblazers scored on their first seven possessions and then added a safety in the fourth quarter when they sacked the Marshall quarterback in the endzone.

Blade Brady (cool name) added a pair of touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving, Preston White caught a touchown pass and Trevor Lopez scored on a 12 yard run. Andre Nunez threw two touchdown passes.

“I thought our kids played hard and played physical and we’re getting ready for a big stretch here so we’re excited,” said Sierra Canyon HC Jon Ellinghouse. “I think we’re getting ready to play some pretty good football.”

The Trailblazers improved to 8-0 with the victory and face Brentwood next week before a showdown with Paraclete in the regular season finale. Paraclete is also unbeaten in the Alpha League and 6-1 overall.

“That’s one thing you can say about our team. We’ve had a lot of big games and playoff games. I’m proud of the way our kids take it one game at a time. Brentwood is a very good team and we’d be foolish to overlook them. Our goal is to get to Paraclete undefeated and we can’t do that if we don’t beat Brentwood,” Ellinghouse added.
