Darione Jones finds some room to run against Paraclete
Kick off is 7:00 pm unless otherwise indicated
Saturday 12/08
Madison (12-1, Division IV Champs) at Monrovia (12-2, Mid-Valley Division Champs)
If there were doubts before, there are none now. Monrovia made sure of that. How ironic is it that the two teams that the CIF brought in to push or even knock off the Wildcats, were pushed aside by Monrovia? Paraclete stayed with the Cats early, even led at the break, but in the end Monrovia was the superior team. It was the Wildcat D that rose to the occasion holding Paraclete to 155 total yards. On offense it was the usual suspects. Anthony Craft made a game changing play, Mason Bryant caught a couple of key passes, Blake Heyworth ran the offense and didn’t commit a turnover and the rushing attack was solid with Darione Jones and Ge Vontray Ainsworth who rushed for 125 yards.
And for their third straight Mid-Valley Division title, they are rewarded with a berth in the state playoffs. Make no mistake the Wildcats will be ready.
It will be another big test for M-Town. Madison hasn’t lost since the first week of September and has rushed for over 3700 yards on the season. Pierre Cormier ran for 1940 of those yards to go along with 26 touchdowns. Quarterback Kareem Coles threw for 1647 yards and 21 touchdowns and also ran for six scores. The Warhawks (cool name) averaged over 38 points per game.
Monrovia is home while Madison makes the three hour trek from San Diego. While the home field advantage doesn’t always matter in high school, this does make a difference. Cal Preps likes Madison. I don’t. Monrovia moves on to the State Finals.
