(San Diego) – Santa Fe Christian regained the lead with two minutes left and held on to beat Rio Hondo Prep 30-28 Friday night in the Division Four State Regionals at Del Norte High School. Colby Rivera went in in from three yards out to give Rio Hondo Prep a 28-24 lead with 5:44 left in the fourth quarter but Santa Fe scored on its ensuing possession.
Santa Fe had taken a 24-21 advantage with just five seconds left in the third quarter. The Kares were up 14-0 early in the contest. The game was played in a heavy fog that had rolled in off the coast in the fourth quarter.
