Azusa Tournament: D-Ranch Runs Past G-Stone

(Azusa) – Nnadi Udengwu scored 18 points including 14 in the first half to lead Diamond Ranch to a 51-36 win over Gladstone Wednesday at the Azusa Tournament.

Ernest Ugoagu added 11 for the Panthers who jumped out to a 10-0 advantage right out of the gate. Diamond Ranch led 14-6 after one as Ugoagu scored six in the quarter and Udengwu tossed in seven.

The Panthers opened up a 20 point lead by halftime at 36-16 as Udengwu hit a three and a couple of buckets. Paolo Reoizo also knocked down a three and had five points in the second quarter. The Diamond Ranch defense locked down the Gladiators, outscoring Gladstone 22-10 in the second quarter and effectively putting the game on ice.

Gladstone outscored the Panthers by five in the second half but Diamond Ranch emptied its bench in the fourth quarter. No other Panther was in double figures after Udengwu and Ugoagu. Jesse Garibay and Ethan Jarrell each added six.

For Gladstone Manny Chavira scored 10 to lead the team but eight of those came in the final period. Ben Reaves had eight and Andy Villalobos chipped in seven.

Diamond Ranch moves on to the tournament championship game tomorrow. The Panthers improved to 6-2 overall. It was the first loss for Gladstone as the Gladiators fell to 4-1.
