Hart 66, FSHA 52
Hart received an outstanding 38 bench points, which included leading scorer Breze Kimble (16 points), and a huge second half turnaround to kick clear of Flintridge Sacred Heart.
Julia White, a freshman, also joined in Hart’s fun and was another who delivered off the bench as she put in 13 points and six assists.
FSHA had a balanced attack in the opening half with seven players scoring at least a bucket. They were led there by Casey Johnson with 13 points, and Dana Budzyn dropping 12.
Royal 55, La Cañada 49
La Canada plowed through three single digit stanzas and trailed from mid-way into the first until late in the fourth when it battled back to maintain a short-lived lead, but ultimately were outfinished come crunch time by Royal who hit 11 of 14 free throws over the final frame to help secure victory.
The Highlanders were led by Brianna Reser with 21 points, and another 19 out of Brooke Zamora.
LC’s Courtney Chen also amassed 21 points. Alyssa Miller finished with 11, all in the second half.
La Salle 64, Arcadia 48
La Salle controlled the tempo down the stretch to easily shake off Arcadia, who came in with a 7-1 record and were ranked 67th in California.
Kandyce Smith led the Lancers, and all scorers, with 20 points. Three other teammates finished in double digit scoring. CK (Caroline Knop) doused the hoop for 13 (8 in the 2nd quarter), while Sierra Bononi and Sarah Kopcha each had 11.
Arcadia received 10 points, six steals, and two blocks out of Caira Benton, while Melody Chang contributed 16 points and five steals.
Julissa Aguirre missed a double double by one point and board, finishing with nine points and nine rebounds for the Apaches.
Pasadena Poly 54, Village Christian 25
Filling in for legendary standout and current Princeton player Michelle Miller might not be that tough after all for the Panthers and coach Kim Weber to take care of as that role looks to be carried by sharpshooting sophomore Kiki Yang, who lit up the perimeter with a memorable four three-pointers in the third quarter before finishing with six 3’s overall and 25 points (thru three quarters).
Poly was dealt a great deal of help offensively thru second-chance scores in the paint, led by Kaitlyn Olah as she battled her way inside to add 14 points.
Village Christian struggled in getting the ball thru the net from near and far, netting a paltry seven points in the second half. The Crusaders’ leading scorer was Rachel Temple with 7 points. Hhala Aboul-Hosn, Paige Phillips, and Avery O’Neal all followed with four apiece.
Moorpark 48, Golden Valley 29
Moorpark benefitted from its own defense, rebounding, and a stagnant Golden Valley offense to canter away with the win.
The Musketeers had Paige Sullivan running and leading the show with 21 points. Leah Daley pitched in with a dozen points.
GV started ahead 6-0 on two quick scores (a three, and a two-and-one play) from Caitlyn Zindroski, who led the Grizzlies with 10 points, all in the first half. Destiny Monroe added five.
