With a little less talent in the San Dimas backfield, Payton could be a 3,000 yard back. As it is he led his division in rushing with 1,658 yards but was only tenth in number of carries with 161. Only once did he have over 20 carries (21 vs. Bonita) in a game.
A machine, nuclear in nature, Payton hasn’t been fully released by HC Bill Zernickow on opponents yet. Stay tuned for 2013.
Along with the yardage he tacked on 23 touchdowns (15 as a sophomore in 2011) to spearhead the Saints advance to the Mid-Valley semifinals. There’s a great personal story behind the great talent, expect to hear a lot about this guy over the next eleven months. A deluxe player, who had a deluxe 2012.
