Top Seven Returning Mid-Valley Division Centers

“I looked at Northview’s Mitch Boling and could’ve sworn it was Judgement Day…”

(We went with a top seven on this for much the same reason we only went with a top five with the quarterbacks. Of the 32 teams in the division, 18 of them are losing their starter to graduation. This left 14, but of that group seven stood out. Like always we based it on what we saw during the past season, film, what coaches have told us, and post season honors. Far from perfect, tell us who we are missing. Give us names and reasons. Like the guards, these guys deserve it because they do all the dirty work.)

1.) Fidel Castro (San Dimas): SR, 6-2 230

2.) Erik Brooks (Monrovia): SR, 6-1 255

3.) Sergio Meza (Baldwin Park): SR, 5-9 215

4.) Brandon Baiza (El Monte): SR, 5-7 199

5.) Mitch Boling (Northview): SR, 5-9 300

6.) Eric Cohen (Sierra Canyon): JR, 5-10 240

7.) Jack Rhodes (Viewpoint): JR, 6-1 190

***Note*** We are aware that changes happen along the offensive line all the time. A tackle today, might be the center next week. A guard this year might be a tackle next fall.

***Note II*** Coaches that want more attention for their centers, and offensive line in general, must do a better job promoting them. Number switches and in some cases zero information on post season honors and sizes (height/weight) make it difficult to appraise and praise the trenchmen.
