Oliva Lands at Maranatha

San Gabriel HC Jude Oliva

Former San Gabriel Matador head coach Jude Oliva has accepted the offer to become the next offensive coordinator at Maranatha Head Coach Pete Karavedas confirmed Friday.

Oliva stepped down at San Gabriel after the 2012 season after a three year run.

“I am thrilled to welcome Jude Oliva to the Maranatha family. As an experienced OC and a successful former head coach he brings a wealth of passion and knowledge that will be a tremendous benefit to our program,” Karavedas said. “Most importantly Jude loves the Lord and loves to develop young men through the game of football. We are truly blessed to have him.”

Oliva is optimistic about the new challenge and his future.

“I am excited for this new journey the Lord has sent me on. It is said when one door closes another one is open for you by the Lord. I am excited to be a part of a school with such great prestige, tradition and values like Maranatha High School,” Oliva said. “I am stoked to be working with Coach Karavedas and his entire staff. Coach K is someone I believe in and over the past few years we have developed a strong relationship and respect for one another. It’s a great fit for me and my family.”

Cedric Ho, who also coached at SG, will join the Maranatha coaching staff as well.

“He will be coaching our wide receivers and running our “speed” program,” Karavedas said.
