Cole Currie gets two of his 27
(Crescenta Valley) – Cole Currie scored 27 points and Nick Springer added 15 to lead Crescenta Valley to a 68-54 win over Millikan Friday night and into the Division 1A Semi Finals.
The Falcons jumped on Millikan early for 20 points in the first quarter, including nine by Currie and then finished it off in the fourth with a 23-14 quarter.
Millikan played the Falcons even in the second quarter but still trailed at the break 32-23. The Rams made a push in the third quarter as Brian Chambers buried three consecutive threes and Malik Marquetti scored five points.
Millikan got as close as two points but the Falcons regained control to put it away. Springer scored nine of his 15 in the final period and Currie scored ten including a perfect six for six from the charity stripe.
Millikan put CV on the line to try to get back in it but the Falcons responded by knocking down all 12 of their free throws in the quarter.
For Millikan Chambers led the way with 21 with 15 of those coming from beyond the three point line. Marquetti finished with 14.
Currie and Springer combined for 42 of the 68 for the Falcons. Ryan Schloessmann contributed nine and Berj Krikorian added six.
CV knocked off Paloma Valley and Edison before taking care of Millikan. The Falcons will face El Toro Tuesday night in the semis on the road.
