Bonita Wins Epic Battle

(Azusa) – Austin McGilvra hit a clutch game winning two-out double down the right field line to drive in a speeding Tanner Diebold to propel Bonita to a 3-2, 11 inning victory over Northview at Azusa Pacific University Thursday night.

Sam Stavang overcame bases loaded pressure and struck out two of his last three batters to earn the save which preserved a win in-relief by Chad Hockin, who dealt four no-hit shutout innings and had four strikeouts.
Northview, after trailing Bonita 1-0 from the third inning on, took a 2-1 lead into the top of the seventh when Dom Baca drove uphill to left down the line for a two run double scoring Jake Grijalva and Anthony Amaya.
Jake Blunt, who finished batting 4 for 5 with two RBI’s to lead the Bearcats, also blasted one through third and up left to cash in Justin Row in the the top of the seventh. Hockin arrived in the bottom half in relief of starter Parker Merritt, who carried a five inning two-hit shutout into the sixth. Hockin got a 1-2-3 to send it into extra innings on a flyout, lined high comebacker, and strikeout.
