1.) Happy birthday to San Antonio Spurs’ Tony Parker, who turns 31 today.
2.) The New York Knicks win Game 5 in the NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Indiana Pacers 85-75. The Indiana Pacers are ahead in the series 3-2.
3.) David Beckham announces he will retire after his season with Paris Saint-Germaine F.C., ending his 20-year soccer career. He is 38 years old.
4.) The Los Angeles Kings score two goals within the final two minutes to beat the San Jose Sharks in Game 2 of the NHL Western Conference Semifinals by the score of 4-3.
5.) The San Antonio Spurs win Game 6 in the NBA Western Conference Semifinals to close the series against the Golden State Warriors; the final score was 94-82. They will advance to face the Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference Finals.
6.) New England Patriots’ Tight End Rob Gronkowski to undergo fourth surgery on his forearm. He broke his forearm during Week 11 of last year’s NFL season.
7.) Happy birthday to Hall-of-Fame boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, who turns 57 today.
8.) In 1978, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Lee Lacy hit his third consecutive pinch-hit home run, setting the MLB record. The game resulted in a 10-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
9.) In 1970, Hank Aaron earned his 3000th hit in the second game of a doubleheader against he Cincinatti Reds. Later in the game, he hit his 570th career home run.
10.) “The kids have worked real hard and we plan to bring home a W for the Westside! The Circus is coming to WestCo!”—El Monte & West Hall of Fame OC Brian Tabatabai on the annual East-West Hall of Fame game set for tonight (7:30) at West Covina High School.
