Azusa HC Joe Scherf is 14-3 in less than two years leading the Aztecs.

Azusa HC Joe Scherf is 14-3 in less than two years leading the Aztecs.

Good Afternoon!

I don’t need a three-run homer by Manny Ramirez in the top of the ninth of Game Four against the Cardinals to lose my feelings of hostility towards the Redbirds…but it would certainly help.

Did I see NBA pre-season highlights on the tube last night? Did I see Shaq posing as if he is really a factor to consider for Cleveland this season?

Gave the prediction on the air last night, so I’ll mention it here, I like San Dimas by two touchdowns over Bonita this Friday night in “The Smudge Pot” game.

I give the Bearcats the edge at quarterback in Garrett Pendelton over the Saints Shawn Kennedy, but it’s going to be the SD running game that will decide this. Tre Evans is a beast, Ryan Kohler is a pile driver, and Dillon Corona is what every HC dreams about when they advance a sophomore to the varsity.

Word is the field at San Gabriel looks great, administrators are still waiting for a green light to clear it for Friday’s game against San Marino. I advance the cause of naming it “’03 Field” or “Stadium ‘03”…just don’t name it after somebody no one but the school board knows.

Amazing how everything works out, but Baldwin Park, currently 4-1, should be 9-1 along with San Dimas when the two face off for the Valle Vista crown on November 13.

Although very senior Mid Valley wordsmith Tim Peterson says the Pomona Red Devils shouldn’t be overlooked.

Does anybody remember back in May when Andy Villathedevil said the Angels weren’t very good and that they would fold?

Does anybody remember any prediction Villathedevil makes?

We’ve mentioned John Chavez, but we have not mentioned Azusa running back Kendrec McDade who is playing some good football for Joe Scherf.

And have we mentioned Joe Scherf enough, who in 17 games as Aztec HC has racked up a 14-3 record? This includes the school’s first playoff victory, last season, in over 30 years.

Another local coach has told me, while everyone is hyping Monrovia, Temple City, and even San Marino, it would be a mistake to not consider La Canada in the Rio Hondo League mix. “There’s a lot of talent on that roster, and Rocky Moore is really good quarterback.”

Since I’m legally still connected to fantasy football let me pass on this news. John Scanlan’s “Yes We Did” team is on a 14-game winning streak that dates back to 2008.

And I’m going to give Braylon Edwards one more chance to after his trade to the New York Jets, since he’s part of my “El Monte Jets” team.

You happy Scanlan? Scanlan is also the kind of guy when you play “Battleship” with him he makes you add the sound effects of the ship going down. I hate Scanlan, he’s been on an amazing winning streak since November of 2006 but the worm will turn.

Name of the Day: Workman Lobo team captain, trencher, Augustin Esparza…

Stay thirsty my friends…
