(Temple City)- Temple City turned a close game at the half into a dominating 42-20 win over La Salle on Friday night by riding the back of tailback Max Ruckle for 200-yards rushing and three touchdowns.

The Rams got on the board on the third play of the game when quarterback Justin Smith hit a wide open David Spratt for a 79-yard touchdown pass.

La Salle cut into the lead when fullback James Harmon took the ball in from one yard out to make it 7-6 after the kick failed. The Lancers took the lead when quarterback Michael Alexander ran in from 16-yards out to make it 13-6 following the point after.

After a slow start Ruckle scored his first touchdown in the second quarter when he ran through La Salle’s defense for a 46-yard score.

A three and out for the Lancers gave the ball back to TC but Smith fumbled the ball and Jacinto Dyson scooped it up and ran it in from 42-yards out.

With only a second left in the first half Smith hit Andrew Anda for a 15 yard touchdown pass.

Temple City had the lone score of the third quarter when sophomore running back Andrew Gibson took it in from one yard out.

Ruckle opened it wide open in the fourth quarter with scoring runs of two and 66-yards.

La Salle running back Marcus Wells finished with 96-yards on the ground, Alexander had 107 total yards and an interception.

Smith only went 5 of 15 but had 169 yards passing and two touchdown passes. The Rams played a swarming defense all night.

“We made mistakes that turned into 20 points, we got comfortable and played good the second half.” said TC coach Anthony White. “League is up now and those are the games that matter.”
