1. Alfonso Soriano has four home runs and 13 RBIs in the last two games as the Yankees pound the Angels 14-7 and 11-3.

2. The NFL and players union have tentatively agreed that 40 players will take blood tests for human growth hormone each week during the season, with a positive result drawing a four game suspension.

3. The Pittsburgh Steelers put Plaxico Burress on the injured reserve list with a torn rotator cuff possibly ending his season.

4. Tom Brady went down with a knee injury at pracitice but an MRI came back negative and he is considered day to day.

5. Andre Ethier’s two run home run ties it in the ninth inning and Adrian Gonzalez’ double scores Yasiel Puig in the 12th to give the Dodgers a 5-4 win over the Mets. The Dodgers have won eight straight and 40 of 48 since June 22.

6. Nordhoff linebacker Koby Welch 2012 stats, junior year: 82 solo tackles, 63 assisted, 145 total.

7. Nordhoff running backs Taylor Livingston and Matt Woodcock, both juniors in 2012, combined to rush for 2311 yards and 31 touchdowns.
