(West Covina) The chants of “Kings of Cameron” could be heard loud and clear from the Husky Dog Pound after Tristan Gonzales booted a 33-yard field goal to give South Hills a 31-28 victory over the West Covina Bulldogs Friday night.

In a game that would have made Chuck Knox proud, the two teams amassed 463 yards on the ground. The Huskies had he overall edge gaining 258 to the Bulldogs 205.

*** Adam Goss strikes first for South Hills breaking off a 56-yard bolt to the endzone with 4:28 left in the first quarter.

*** Lightning struck twice for the Huskies when D’Angelo Ross got lose  for a 69 run to paydirt with 9:44 left in the first half.

*** Josh Best got West Covina on the board with 4:25 left in the second quarter on a 31-yard run.

***  Sidney Jones was the only Bulldog to catch a pass on the night catching six for 76-yards and a score. The score cut the Husky lead to seven just before the end of the first half.

*** Jones sets West Covina up for the tying score taking the kick off to open the second half down to the South Hills 24.

*** The Bulldogs got their only lead of the night, 28-21 on a 26 yard run by David Ford with :05 left to play in the third period.

*** Ross sets up the Husky’s game tying score returning the ensuing kickoff to the West Covina 45.  Six plays later Goss goes in from nine yards out.

*** Goss carried the ball 23 times for 179-yards and the two scores.

*** The Bulldogs used five different ball carriers to gain the 205-yards rushing.

*** South Hills gets the week off and will return to the gridiron on September 27 on the road at Monrovia while next week West Covina gets another big test on the road against Chino Hills.
