- [El Monte] El Monte quarterback Adrian Cuevas and running back Angel Gonzalez woke up in the second half to lead the Lions to a come from behind 28-14 win over Bassett Friday Night at El Monte high school.

Olympians scored on their first possession of the game on a 9-yard run by Christopher Rios,but slowed down after that.
***Lions Cuevas went 10 of 12 in the second half for 150-yards and two touchdown passes, he finished 17 of 23 for 229-yards, 2-touchdowns and an interception.
*** Olympians WR/DB Eric Ruff had three catches and an interception on defense.
***El Monte’s Gonzalez got 128 of his 190-yards in the second half long with his two scores, one a 66-yard run to paydirt.
***Bassett quarterbacks Christopher Rios and Nicolas Colmenero finished a combined 4 of 14 for 20 yards but did have 137-yards on the ground with Rios getting a score.
*** El Monte’s RB/WR Roy Barrajas (soph) had 106-total yards (70-receiving and 36-rushing) .
***Lions DT Luis Diaz anchored the defensive line.
***Lions defense stopped four Bassett fourth down attempts in the second half.
***Bassett will head down to Workman next week.
***El Monte will be facing Gladstone next week.
***Olympians’ running back Sergio Villa collects 96 yards on the ground and a score.
