2.) San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick: Week One: 27 of 39 412 yards & 3 Tds. Kaepernick the last two weeks combined: 26 of 55  277 yards 0 Tds & 3 interceptions.

3.) Baldwin Park quarterback Michael Moran: 69 of 110 for 1,182 yards and 12 touchdowns.

4.) Pittsburgh Pirates secure first playoff birth since 1992.

5.) Nine years ago today in 2004 Blair defeated Maranatha 28-12. Current Kansas City Chief defensive back Sean Smith led the Vikings with 86 yard and two touchdowns rushing. He also caught 5 passes for 66 yards, was in on five tackles, and returned an interception for 37-yards. Blair would finish the season 5-5 under then HC Kevin Mills. In 2005 Mills would leave for Pasadena and the Vikings went 0-10.

6.) On this date in 1988 Ben Johnson wins the “Race Of The Century” against Carl Lewis in the 100-Meters at the Seoul Olympic Games. Johnson ran a 9.79 100, Lewis 9.92, for the gold medal. Three days later it was discovered the Johnson, a Canadian, was juiced up on steroids. He blamed on an herbal drink given him before the race, it didn’t work and he was stripped of his medal and the gold was given to Lewis.

7.) Longtime aread defensive assistant Jacob Ochoa turns 38 today.

8.) NCAA will restore five scholarships to Penn State previously taken away as a result of Jerry Sandusky child rape scandal.
