(La Mirada)- The La Mirada Matadores proved that they were better than their 0-4 record by completely outplaying and beating the visiting Bellflower Buccaneers Friday evening at La Mirada High School.
The Matadores scored first, fast and often…and they never looked back. La Mirada scored in the game’s first minute, on a 65-yard run by senior running back E.J. Meza. Meza would add two more scores.
Also scoring rushing touchdowns for the Matadores were senior running back Adam Carrasco (two scoring runs), freshman running back Nick Hernandez (1) , and sophomore running back Sei-J Lauago. Bellflower running back Marquise Lowe added two late rushing touchdowns to complete the evening’s scoring.
***La Mirada scored three touchdowns in the first six minutes of tonight’s game***
***La Mirada, as a team, rushed for 407 yards on 27 carries***
***The score at halftime was La Mirada-42, Bellflower-0***
***The entire second half of the contest was played using a running clock.
***La Mirada Coach Mike Moschetti showed true sportsmanship by playing his reserves
for the entire second half of tonight’s contest.
***Bellflower had twelve possessions in tonight’s contest…ten of which ended in
punts or being turned over on downs.
***Bellflower’s Marquise Lowe gained 55 yards on 11 carries, scoring two touchdowns.
***La Mirada’s next contest is 10/4/13 against Glenn at Excelsior High School.
***Bellflower’s next game is 10/4/13 against Mayfair at Bellflower High School.
