(West Covina) – William Bryan rushed for 230 yards and four touchdowns to lead Diamond Ranch to a 47-21 rout of West Covina Friday night on the Bulldogs home field.
The Panthers scored twice in the four minutes, opened it up to 20-0 by the end of the first quarter and never looked back.
***Diamond Ranch’s first touchdown was set up by a 66-yard run by Bryan down to the West Covina nine-yard line. Two plays later Marcus Briscoe scored from five yards out.
***Bryan also had run of 64 yards for a touchdown that gave the Panthers a 34-14 lead in the second quarter.
***West Covina fumbled on its first possession and Justin Berry returned it to the Bulldog four to set up the second score – a four-yard run by Bryan.
***West Covina got on the board early in the second quarter on a 54-yard touchdown run by Sidney Jones.
***After Westco cut the lead to 27-14 in the second quarter, Diamond Ranch responded with Bryan’s 64 yard TD run and a 42 yard touchdown strike from Xavier Beltran to Brisoce.
***Beltran completed 9 of 15 for 125 yards and a touchdown. Briscoe caught five passes for 97 yards and a score.
***Diamond Ranch had 311 yards on the ground overall.
***West Covina punted the ball five times and committed two turnovers.
***”We didn’t think we would run the ball as much as we did but it was working so we kept running it,” said Diamond Ranch Coach Roddy Layton.
***The game marked the Hacienda League opener for both teams. Diamond Ranch improved to 4-1 overall while West Covina fell to 2-3.
