Friday night’s game opened league play for Diamond Bar and Bonita. Both teams brought a 3-1 record into Glenn Davis Stadium at Bonita, and each was looking to establish a foothold in the battle toward a Hacienda League title. It was Diamond Bar that responded to every potential swing in momentum and capitalized on turnovers to rout the Bearcats 49-26.
- The 1st quarter was a bit of a defensive struggle in which both teams traded turnovers and neither found the end zone. The Brahmas were able to move the ball inside the Bearcats 20 yard line to convert two drives into 6 points on a pair of field goals by Nolan Luzzi .
- The Brahmas started their opening drive of the 2nd quarter on their own 35 yard line drove 65 yards, capped by a 2 yard TD run by quarterback Tyler Peterson to go up 13-0.

- Bonita put its mark on the game when quarterback Tanner Diebold matched Peterson by rushing for his own 13 yard TD with 6:58 left in the 2nd. Diamond Bar’s next drive was a three and out in which a partially blocked punt by Bonita gave them excellent field position at Diamond Bar’s 37 yard line. Less than a minute and a half after their first score, the Bearcats running back Jake Payton exploded for a 32 yard TD run at the 5:30 mark of the 2nd quarter. At this point there was definitely a momentum shift in favor of the home team.
- The Brahmas showed resolve and composure in responding to being down 14-13. On their ensuing drive the Brahma’s took back the lead on a 46 yard TD run by running back Tyler Brown, 20-13. On the kickoff following the touchdown, Bonita fumbled and Diamond Bar capitalized with a 3 yard TD pass from Peterson to wide receiver Cordell Broadus. Diamond Bar went into the half up 26-14
- Bonita came out in the 2nd half with a sense of purpose and took their opening drive 72 for a score. The drive was capped by an 11 yard TD run by Jake Payton to bring Bonita within six, 20-26. This was as close as they would come all night. Diamond Bar responded by “taking the play away” from Bonita. All night the Brahmas answered when tested and put an end to any surge in momentum Bonita seemed to try gather.
- On the ensuing kickoff the Brahmas Brown raced 90 yards for a touchdown to put Diamond Bar up 33-20. On Bonita’s next drive, Diebold was picked off by linebacker Josh Sanchez who returned it to the Bearcat’s 1 yard line. This set up a 1 yard run by Peterson with 8:29 left in the 3rd to put the Brahmas up 40-20. The Brahmas would go on to an impressive a 49-26 win.

- Peterson was 16 of 25 for 138 yards,1 rushing TD. Diebold was 23 of 39 for 212 yards, 1 passing TD, 1 rushing TD, and 1 int.
Bonita’s Payton carried 19 times for 76 yards. Diamond Bar’s leading rusher was Peterson who carried the ball 11 times for 63 yards
