The Minutemen are eyeing a bye, and a date with Whittier Christian.

(North Hills)- Heritage Christian won the second half 9-0, but Maranatha won the second quarter with 31 points for an easy 38-12 victory on Saturday afternoon at Heritage Christian High School.

Leading 7-3 at the end of the first quarter, the Minutemen used all 12 minutes of the second to blow to a 38-3 halftime lead.

Freshman running back David Allen capped a 9-play 35 yard drive with a 4-yard touchdown run at the 8:52 mark. Three minutes later Baile McDavid intercepted a pass and returned it 75-yards for a touchdown.

The Warriors misplayed the kick-off and three plays after that Eli Snyder connected with Xavius Boone for 24-yards and six points. Forty seconds later it was Snyder going to Caleb Devine on an 18-yard screen pass to paydirt and before you could say John Kitterman it was 35-3 Maranatha.

Grant Schober added a 37-yard field goal as time expired in the first half.

***Warriors quarterback Jacob Padilla completed 19 of 31 for 215 yards and was intercepted four times.

***Minutemen quarterback Eli Snyder completed 21 of 30 for 235 yards and two touchdowns.

***Intercepting passes for Maranatha were: Joseph Karavedas, Baile McDavid, Caleb Johnson, and Nate Elffers.

***Maranatha wide receiver Xavius Boone caught six passes for 97 yards and a touchdown. Heritage Christian  was led in receiving by Alex Alcala with nine grabs for 143 yards.

***The Warriors lone touchdown was scored by Jaycee Miller on a 2-yard run with 7:48 to play in the game.

***The Minutemen’s first touchdown was scored by Caleb Devine on a 64-yard run with 2:46 to play in the first quarter. Devine finished with 81 yards on 10 carries..

***Heritage Christian started on the offensive line: LT: Skyler Adams. LG: Matt Obreiter. C: John Basmajian. RG: Alex Duran. RT: Angelo Garcia.

***Maranatha started on the offensive line: LT: Tanner Richter. LG: Ben Hynes. C: Chris Ajalat. RG: Marcus Moses. RT: Jacob Olson.

***Heritage Christian (3-4, 0-1 in league) goes to Whittier Christian (4-3, 1-1) next week.

***Maranatha (6-2, 2-0) is on bye next week they’ll host Whittier Christian on November 1st.
